What is the Shop App?

The Shop app is a mobile shopping app created by Shopify. It’s available for free on iOS and Android and is designed to make shopping easier and more personalized for customers. With the Shop app, users can:

  • Discover products from their favorite brands

  • Track their orders in real time

  • Receive personalized product recommendations based on their browsing and purchase history

Thanks to Tolstoy’s integration with Shop, you can now publish shoppable videos that show up directly inside the app—giving buyers a more interactive way to explore and purchase your products.

Goals of Publishing Videos on Shop

  1. Drive new traffic to your Shop store by making your content more discoverable.

  2. Boost sales by giving customers engaging, easy-to-shop video experiences.

  3. Increase conversions and customer satisfaction by showcasing videos directly on your Shop App's brand and product pages.

Best Ways to Use the Shop App

  1. Add Shoppable Videos – Use Tolstoy to add videos on your Shop app's brand and product pages to boost engagement and sales.

  2. Tag Products in Videos – Tagged videos appear in Shop’s home feed and get shown to users most likely to be interested.

  3. Keep Product Info Sharp – Clear titles, great videos, and helpful descriptions help you stand out.

  4. Track Orders – Customers get real-time tracking and can easily reorder.

Steps on How to Publish

⚠️Important: Make sure that you’re Shop eligible first. Check this link to see if you’re eligible.

Popular Videos

  1. Click Shop and select Popular videos.

  2. Add videos to products.

⚠️Important:

Shop decides which videos show up in the Popular Videos section.

To increase your chances of being featured in the popular videos section of the Shop app, consider the following strategies:

  • Create High-Quality Content: Produce videos that are visually appealing, informative, and engaging. High-quality content is more likely to attract attention and be featured.

  • Consistent Posting Schedule: Regularly upload new content to keep your audience engaged and coming back for more. Consistency can help you gain traction and increase your chances of being noticed by the app's curators.

  • Promote Your Videos: Share your videos on social media platforms and other channels to increase visibility and attract more viewers. The more views and engagement your videos receive, the more likely they are to be featured.

  • Follow Community Guidelines: Ensure that your content complies with the app's community guidelines and policies. Violating these guidelines can result in your videos being removed or your account being penalized.

  • Collaborate with Influencers: Partnering with influencers or other content creators in your niche can help expose your videos to a larger audience and increase your chances of being featured.

  • Monitor Trends: Stay updated on current trends and topics relevant to your audience, and create content that aligns with these trends. Trending topics are more likely to gain traction and be featured in the popular videos section.

Also, every video that has a product tagged gets sent to the Shop app to potentially appear in the home feed. Shop curates and shows videos to users based on their interests, so your videos are more likely to reach people who are genuinely interested in what you’re selling. Once a user starts watching, the feed continues to show them more videos and products that match their preferences—thanks to Shop's recommendation engine. Videos are ranked based on their social media performance (number of views and likes) and based on their Tolstoy performance (timed watched).

Brand Page

Add videos to your Shop app's brand page to let new users explore your products in a way that’s proven to convert better.

1. You need to first tag products in your videos in your Tolstoy library.

⚠️Important:

The tagging step is crucial to ensure that your store stands out and presents videos in a unique and engaging way. By not completing this tagging step, Tolstoy won't be able to showcase the videos in your Shop store.

To learn more about how to tag products, click here.

Images are not supported in Shop App.

2. Once you have tagged the products in your videos, click on the Shop section.

3. Select Brand page.

4. Start creating.

⚠️Important:

You can only create your brand page feed using videos that are already in your Tolstoy library.

Click on Library to access those videos. You can add videos to your library by importing them from Instagram, TikTok, or uploading them directly to your Tolstoy library.

Setting Shop Live

Click the Sync videos button to launch your selected videos as a feed on your Shop's brand page.

Updating your feed

Easily refresh your Shop's brand page feed with new video content by adding fresh videos from your Library. To include new videos in the feed, follow the same process as above, and afterward, simply click the "Sync videos" button located in the top right corner of the page. This action will update your feed with the recently added videos.

Pausing your feed

To hide or remove the feed from your Shop brand page, simply click the orange Pause button located in the top right corner of the page. This action will conceal the feed in your Shop app while you make adjustments such as adding, removing, or reordering videos.

⚠️Important:

When you're ready to relaunch the feed, click the Publish button to make your feed visible and live on your Shop's Brand page.

Reordering videos in the brand page carousel

The order of the videos in a carousel can be changed if you want to highlight specific videos as the first ones to be seen in the feed. To reorder the videos on the Shop brand carousel:

1. Select and drag the video to the position where you want it in the feed.

2. Once you’re happy with the order of the videos, click Sync videos on the top right corner.

⚠️Important:

Always click the Sync videos button if you are adding/deleting/making any changes to the videos.

Also, our videos only appear on the SHOP mobile app. They are not shown on SHOP app browser site.
