Tolstoy Pricing and Plan Tiers

What's included in every Tolstoy plan, what viewers and credits mean, the free plan, and where to check your plan and balance.

Written by David T

Every paid Tolstoy plan includes all three products in one plan: Shoppable Videos, AI Studio and the AI Sales Agent. You don't buy them separately. You just choose the plan with the monthly usage that fits your business.

For current prices and what each plan includes, see our pricing page.

What viewers and credits mean

Each product has its own monthly allowance:

  • Viewers are for Shoppable Videos. They count how often your video widgets are seen on your site. In Usage & billing, they appear as Onsite Video impressions.

  • AI Studio credits are used when you create content with AI, such as product images and videos, and when you build widgets with AI. How many credits a task uses depends on the model and workflow. In Usage & billing, they appear as Studio credits.

  • Onsite AI credits are used by AI Sales Agent chats and virtual try-ons. Page visits and store traffic don't use them.

Higher plans include more monthly usage and some extra features. If you go over your allowance, extra Shoppable Videos viewers are charged at your plan's rate. AI Studio credits and Onsite AI credits are metered separately, and Tolstoy shows you the current rate in billing before you buy more.

Free plan

You can start on the free plan with no card needed. When an eligible free account publishes its first widget, it can start a publishing trial, and the widget goes live right away. To keep it live after the trial, choose a paid plan. Trial details are on the pricing page.

Check your plan and balance

In the Tolstoy Platform, go to Settings > Usage & billing. The Overview tab shows your plan, how much of each allowance you have left, and when it resets or renews. The Usage history tab shows how you've used it.

If your billing is managed by your organization, ask your account administrator to change plans or add credits.

FAQs

Do I need to buy Shoppable Videos, AI Studio and the AI Sales Agent separately?
No. Every paid plan includes all three. The plan you choose sets your monthly allowance for each one.

I'm on an older plan. What happens to my subscription?
Your existing subscription keeps its current pricing and allowances. If you choose a new plan, the current plans apply.

Do I still need to publish each feature separately?
Yes. Your plan gives you access, but you still publish each widget, asset or entry point from its own product flow.

Is AI Player the same as Shoppable Videos? Is AI Shopper the same as the AI Sales Agent?
Yes. These names refer to the same products in different parts of Tolstoy.

Why can't I send a new prompt in AI Studio?
Your AI Studio credit balance may be too low. Check it in Settings > Usage & billing.

Why don't I see a Publish button in AI Studio?
You can publish directly from AI Studio. Click an asset that AI Studio generated on the canvas, then use the publish icon in its toolbar. You can also select several assets and publish them together. From there you can publish to your website (create a widget, or add the asset to a project or playlist), sync it to your Shopify product gallery, publish it to Meta Ads, or post it on Instagram, TikTok Shop or X. If you don't see the publish icon, the item is probably an image you uploaded to the canvas rather than one AI Studio generated. Some destinations also need a connected account: syncing to your Shopify gallery needs a connected Shopify store, and posting to social needs that social account connected.

Why did my bulk generation stop or fail?
Before a bulk run starts, Tolstoy checks that you have enough AI Studio credits for it. If you don't, the run won't start, and you'll be asked to add credits or run fewer items. A run can also stop partway if your credits run out, or if you reach the monthly credit limit your workspace owner set for members. Running in bulk is included only in some plans. If you see Upgrade to run in bulk, see the pricing page. If only some items fail, the progress card shows how many. Open an item's chat to see the error, fix the input or template, and run it again.

Why can't I publish my project or shopper entry point?
The widget may need a paid plan, or the installation or connection step may not be finished.

Why does an entry point or widget show Paused?
Paused means it was published but isn't showing on your site right now. For AI Sales Agent entry points, it usually means your Onsite AI credits ran out and your account can't use more this billing cycle. It resumes automatically on your next billing cycle. For a widget built with AI, Paused means it was live before and was taken offline. Either someone paused or unpublished it, or your account moved to the free plan or a free publishing trial ended. Publish it again to bring it back. If it was taken offline because of your plan, you'll need a paid plan first.

Why is my project still not visible on my store after publishing?
Most often, the Publish ID wasn't added correctly, the block or code wasn't placed on the right page, or the theme changes weren't saved.

Do I need Shopify to use Tolstoy?
No. You can install many website experiences with code instead of the Shopify app block.
