How to Create and Publish Shopify Ad Landing Page

Create a Shopify ad landing page with campaign-specific content, two A/B variants, built-in analytics, and real Shopify Page URLs.

Written by Gilbert Castro

Use the Shopify Ad landing page template to turn paid traffic into a focused shopping experience that is published as real Shopify Pages.

Each project includes Page A and Page B so you can test two campaign angles. When you publish, your Shopify theme continues to provide the header, navigation, and footer around the landing-page content.

Before you start, make sure you are in the Tolstoy workspace connected to the Shopify store where you want to create the pages and that you can access the Widgets templates.

How to Set Up

  1. In Tolstoy, go to WidgetsAll templates → Click Ad Landing pages.

  2. Click Create my own.

  3. In the AI Widget workspace, provide the campaign context:

    • What the ad promotes: a product, collection, or general offer.

    • The ad headline, primary text, creative, and current destination URL.

    • Two selling angles or test hypotheses. You can also ask Tolstoy to propose them.

  4. Use Browser to review Page A and Page B. Continue refining the page in chat until the copy, products, links, and layout match the campaign.

  5. Switch between the page variants in the preview. Use Code only when you need to inspect the generated page, and use Analytics after the campaign starts receiving traffic.

How to Publish

  1. Review Page A and Page B on desktop and mobile. Confirm that every product, offer, link, and call to action is accurate.

  2. Click Publish in the workspace.

  3. Follow the on-screen publishing steps to build and create or update the Shopify Pages.

  4. Open the published pages on your Shopify storefront and verify the Page A and Page B URLs. The default paths are /pages/page-a/ and /pages/page-b/.

  5. Use the URL for the matching variant as the destination URL in your ad campaign.

Publishing this template creates or updates real Shopify Pages. This is different from the generic Ad Landing Page template, which publishes to a standalone Tolstoy-hosted URL.

Best Practices

  • Keep each page consistent with the promise and creative in its ad.

  • Give each variant one clear primary call to action.

  • Use current product details and verified claims. Do not add invented reviews, prices, discounts, or urgency.

  • Test one meaningful hypothesis at a time so the Page A and Page B results are easier to compare.

  • Test the full experience on desktop and mobile, including the path from the primary call to action to checkout.

  • Review the Analytics tab after traffic begins to compare engagement and conversion signals.

Troubleshooting and FAQs

Why do I only see starter content?

The builder needs campaign context before it can create a tailored page. Provide the product, collection, or offer; the ad content; and two selling angles, or ask Tolstoy to propose the angles.

Why are there two Shopify page paths?

Page A and Page B are the two campaign variants. Use the matching Shopify Page URL for each ad variant so traffic and results remain aligned.

Why does the landing page still look like my Shopify theme?

That is expected. The Shopify Ad landing page content is added inside a Shopify Page, while your active theme supplies the surrounding header, navigation, and footer.

What is the difference between Shopify Ad landing page and Ad Landing Page?

Shopify Ad landing page publishes real pages on your connected Shopify theme. The generic Ad Landing Page template publishes a standalone Tolstoy-hosted page.

Why is Publish unavailable, or why did my page not update?

Confirm that you are in the correct Shopify-connected Tolstoy workspace and that the project has finished generating. Publish the latest version, then reopen the live Shopify Page to verify the result.
