Introduction
AI Shopper Skills determine what your Customer Agent can do for shoppers, including virtual try-on, product recommendations, cart actions, order tracking, sizing assistance, and customer support.
Enabling the right skills helps your agent provide more useful shopping guidance and complete actions directly within customer conversations.
You can configure and preview skills before upgrading. Using them through a live Customer Agent generally requires a paid AI Shopper/AI Sales Agent or AI Commerce plan and available Shopper credits. Some skills may also require a compatible store integration or additional setup. See Tolstoy’s current pricing and plan options.
How to Set Up
Log in to your Tolstoy account.
Select Customer Agent from the left navigation.
Open Settings.
Select the Skills tab.
Review the number of enabled skills shown in the upper-right corner.
Use the toggle beside each skill to enable or disable it:
A blue toggle means the skill is enabled.

If a skill has an arrow, click it to review and configure its additional settings.
Wait for the changes to save before leaving the page.

Enable, disable, or configure the required skills.
Wait for the changes to save.
Start a new conversation on your storefront and verify the updated behavior.
You normally do not need to republish each skill separately. However, you should confirm that the Customer Agent widget remains published and working after making changes.

Troubleshooting / FAQs
Why can’t I enable a skill?
The skill may require additional information or an integration. For example, Coupon requires an available coupon, while Connect to Support requires a support destination.
Why isn’t the agent using an enabled skill?
Skills are activated when a shopper’s request is relevant. Start a new conversation and ask a direct question related to the skill. Also confirm that the required product or customer data is available.
Why isn’t the agent offering a coupon?
Make sure a valid coupon has been created and the Coupon skill is enabled. Check the coupon’s dates, usage limits, and eligibility rules.
Why can’t a shopper check their order status?
Confirm that the shopper is signed in or has provided the required order details. Your store integration must also provide access to current order information.
Why are regional prices or inventory results incorrect?
Resynchronize your product catalog and verify the information in your ecommerce platform. Check that regional markets, currencies, inventory locations, and availability settings are current.
Why isn’t Virtual Try-On available for a product?
The product may not be supported, required product images may be missing, or the workspace may not have enough Shopper credits. Test the skill with another eligible product.
Why isn’t Connect to Support working?
Open the skill’s settings and confirm that the support URL or contact destination is valid and publicly accessible.
Why aren’t my latest changes appearing on the storefront?
Wait for the settings to finish saving, then start a new shopper session. Confirm that you edited the correct store or workspace and that the Customer Agent widget is still published.
Do all skills require a paid plan?
You can configure skills before upgrading, but using most skills through a live Customer Agent requires a paid AI Shopper/AI Sales Agent or AI Commerce plan. Individual skills may have additional integration or credit requirements.
What happens when my Shopper credits run out?
The Customer Agent or credit-dependent skills may be paused or become unavailable until credits are added or reset.
