Chat Bubble adds a floating launcher that lets shoppers open the AI Shopper assistant from anywhere on the site. This helps merchants offer instant product guidance, reduce friction, and make the assistant easy to access across the storefront. Chat Bubble is a paid AI Shopper entry point, so merchants need a paid Shopper plan to publish it live.
How to Set Up
Go to Customer Agent → Features → Chat Bubble
Use the Test Agent tab to review how the shopper assistant responds.
In Style, customize the bubble:
In Content → Settings, configure visibility rules such as blocked collections and included templates.
Review the preview and save your changes.
How to Publish
Shopify
Click Publish.
If prompted, enable the Tolstoy app embed in Shopify. You should see a notification 'Chat Bubble widget published'
Verify that the Chat Bubble appears on the storefront and opens the assistant correctly.
Unlike block-based entry points, Chat Bubble does not need to be added to the product page template. It relies on the app embed being enabled.
Non-Shopify
Open the publish flow.
Copy the Chat Bubble embed code.
Paste it into your site where the widget should load.
Publish the widget.
Test it on the live site.
Best Practices
Place the bubble in a corner that does not compete with other sticky elements like chat, loyalty, or accessibility widgets.
Use brand-consistent colors so the launcher feels native to the storefront.
Test the bubble on mobile and desktop before launch to make sure it does not cover key page actions.
Keep your shopper assistant profile and knowledge settings up to date, since the bubble is only the launcher for that broader assistant experience.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Why can't I publish Chat Bubble?
Chat Bubble requires a paid Shopper plan to go live.
Why is the bubble not showing on Shopify?
The Tolstoy app embed may still be disabled in the active Shopify theme.
Why does the status say Paused?
The widget is published, but the store is not currently billable for Shopper usage.
Does Chat Bubble need a Shopify block?
No. Chat Bubble uses the app embed rather than a product-page block.
Can I change how the assistant behaves from this page?
You can test and launch the bubble here, but the assistant's profile, chat behavior, tools, and knowledge are managed globally in AI Shopper settings.
