How to Create and Publish Tapcart PDP Stories

Tapcart PDP Stories lets you add shoppable video stories to your Tapcart product detail pages so shoppers can watch product content without leaving your mobile app experience. It helps merchants bring more product education, social proof, and engagement directly into the PDP. You can create, set up, and publish Tapcart PDP Stories without upgrading to a paid Tolstoy plan, but you do need a Tapcart app setup and a connected store.

How to Set Up

In Tolstoy, go to Widgets ➜ All templates ➜ Mobile App ➜ Tapcart PDP Stories

Click Playlist → Click Manual edit then set up your Media filters → Click Save

Go back to Browser to see the preview of your For You Feed. Feel free to tell the agent any customization you'd like to apply.

How to Publish

Click Publish in the top-right corner of the project. Tapcart For You Feed does not require a paid Tolstoy plan to publish.

Recommended: Custom Block (React)

  1. Copy the React snippet from the publish modal.

  2. In Tapcart App Studio, go to Design Blocks > Custom Blocks.

  3. Click Create a Custom Block and choose React Block.

  4. Paste the Tolstoy snippet into the code editor.

  5. Save the custom block.

  6. Add or drag the custom block onto your Product Detail Page screen in Tapcart.

  7. Save and publish your Tapcart changes.

Legacy: Custom Block (Javascript)

  1. Open the Legacy Custom Block (Javascript) tab in the publish modal.

  2. Copy the HTML, CSS, and Javascript snippets.

  3. Follow the legacy Tapcart custom block installation flow shown in the setup guide.

  4. Save and publish your Tapcart changes.

After publishing, open a product page in your Tapcart app and confirm the stories appear in the expected location.

Best Practices

  • Use product-specific videos so each PDP feels relevant to the item the shopper is viewing.

  • Keep the first few videos focused on fit, features, or key purchase questions.

  • Test the experience on multiple product pages, not just one.

  • Use the React custom block option unless you specifically need the legacy setup path.

Troubleshooting / FAQs

Do I need to be on a paid Tolstoy plan to publish Tapcart PDP Stories?
No. Tapcart PDP Stories can be published on free or paid Tolstoy plans.

Why aren't my PDP Stories showing in Tapcart?
Most often, the custom block was not added to the Product Detail Page screen, the Tapcart changes were not saved or published, or the wrong install method was used.

Why are the wrong videos showing on a product page?
Check that your media is connected to the correct products. PDP Stories depends on product context to show the right content for each PDP.

Why is nothing rendering on the PDP?
The React block depends on Tapcart passing the current productId. If that value is missing, the widget will not render correctly. Make sure you used the full Tolstoy snippet and placed it on a Tapcart Product Detail Page screen.

Which install option should I use?
Use Custom Block (React) unless your Tapcart setup still relies on the older legacy custom block flow.

Can I create the project before I'm ready to publish?
Yes. You can create the project, add media, and adjust the design before publishing it live in Tapcart.
