How to Create and Publish Tapcart For You Feed

Written by Mikaela Lasig

Tapcart For You Feed lets you add a swipeable, shoppable video feed to your Tapcart mobile app. It helps merchants create a more immersive in-app shopping experience, keep shoppers engaged longer, and drive more product discovery through video. You can create, edit, and publish a Tapcart For You Feed without upgrading to a paid Tolstoy plan, but you do need a Tapcart app setup connected to your store.

How to Set Up

  1. In Tolstoy, go to Widgets ➜ All templates ➜ Mobile App ➜ Tapcart For You Feed

  2. Click Playlist → Click Manual edit then set up your Media filters → Click Save

  3. Go back to Browser to see the preview of your For You Feed. Feel free to tell the agent any customization you'd like to apply.

How to Publish

Click Publish in the top-right corner of the project. Tapcart For You Feed does not require a paid Tolstoy plan to publish.

Recommended: Custom Block (React)

  1. Copy the React snippet.

  2. In Tapcart App Studio, go to Design Blocks > Custom Blocks.

  3. Click Create a Custom Block and select React Block.

  4. Paste the snippet into the code editor.

  5. Save the custom block.

  6. Drag the block onto the Tapcart screen where you want the feed to appear.

  7. Save and publish your Tapcart app changes.

Legacy: Custom Block (Javascript)

  1. Copy the generated HTML, CSS, and Javascript code blocks.

  2. Save and publish your Tapcart app changes.

After setup is complete, open your live app and confirm the feed appears in the expected location and plays the correct videos.

Best Practices

  • Use vertical, mobile-friendly videos so the feed feels native inside the app.

  • Tag products before publishing so shoppers can move from watching to shopping without friction.

  • Use the React Custom Block option unless you specifically need the legacy Javascript flow.

  • Test the feed on a real device after publishing, especially if you added it to navigation or a top bar entry point.

  • Keep CTA text short and clear if you enable the Mini CTA button.

Troubleshooting / FAQs

Do I need a paid Tolstoy plan to publish Tapcart For You Feed?
No. Tapcart For You Feed can be published without upgrading to a paid Tolstoy plan.

Why isn't the feed showing in my Tapcart app?
Most often, the custom block was not added to the correct screen, the code snippet was not pasted completely, or the Tapcart app changes were not saved and published.

Which publish option should I use?
Use Custom Block (React) unless you already rely on the older Javascript-based Tapcart setup.

Why does the feed look different from my website widgets?
Tapcart For You Feed uses a Tapcart-specific mobile app layout, so some design and product-card behavior is tailored for the in-app experience.

Can I edit the feed after it is published?
Yes. Update the project in Tolstoy, save your changes, and confirm the Tapcart block is still installed in the intended location.
