Introduction
Bubble Feed lets you add a dismissible floating video bubble to your storefront. When shoppers click the bubble, it opens a full-screen shoppable video feed where they can watch content and discover products.
This helps merchants promote UGC, product demos, launches, best sellers, and campaign content without taking over the page layout.
You can create, configure, and preview Bubble Feed in Tolstoy. Publishing it to your live store requires a paid Shoppable Videos plan.
How to Set Up
From the Tolstoy new platform, go to Widgets.
Open Templates.
Select Bubble Feed.
Click to 'Create my Own' create the widget.
In the widget workspace, open the Tolstoy Media panel.
On the right side, there's a filter dropdown so that you can sort the videos/images you want to show.
Choose the media you want shoppers to see in the feed:
Use strong videos or images for the first few items.
Tag media with products when the content is product-specific.
Use filters or pins to control which media appears first.
Click SAVE to save the selected media, filters, sort order, and pins to the widget.
Preview the widget and confirm the bubble opens the correct feed.
How to Publish
In the Bubble Feed workspace, click Publish.
If prompted, upgrade to a paid plan.
Once published, open the publish dropdown and copy the embed code.
In Shopify, open your theme editor.
Add a 'Tolstoy Builder' or 'Custom Liquid' block to the page or template where you want the Bubble Feed to appear.
Paste the embed code into the Widget Code field.
Click Save.
Open your live store and confirm the bubble appears in the corner of the page.
If you want Bubble Feed to appear on multiple page types, add the Tolstoy Builder block to each relevant Shopify template.
Best Practices
Use an eye-catching first video, since it becomes the bubble preview.
Keep the feed focused on one goal, such as product discovery, a launch, or best sellers.
Tag product-specific videos so shoppers can move from content to product.
Avoid using too many unrelated videos in one feed.
Check the bubble on mobile to make sure it does not block important buttons.
Review bubble views, opens, and dismisses to understand shopper engagement.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Why is Tolstoy asking me to upgrade before publishing?
Publishing Bubble Feed requires a paid Shoppable Videos plan.
The bubble is published, but I do not see it on my store.
Make sure the Tolstoy Builder block was added to the correct Shopify page or template, the embed code was pasted, and the theme was saved.
The bubble appears on one page but not another.
Bubble Feed only appears where the embed code or Tolstoy Builder block is installed. Add it to any additional templates where it should appear.
Why is no media showing in the feed?
There may be no media matching the widget’s filters. Add media, adjust filters, tag products if needed, click Sync media, then publish again.
I updated the media, but the live feed did not change.
Click Save first, then click Publish update.
A shopper dismissed the bubble. Will it come back?
Bubble Feed remembers when a shopper dismisses it, so it may stay hidden for that shopper.
How do I remove Bubble Feed?
Pause the widget in Tolstoy, or remove the Tolstoy Builder block from your Shopify theme.
