If you're using AI Studio with a Shopify-billed subscription, your monthly tokens don't reset exactly at midnight on your billing date. Instead, they're refreshed through an automated daily billing process.
When Tokens Refresh
Your AI Studio tokens are renewed by an automated daily billing process that runs at approximately 11:00 AM UTC. The system checks your subscription's renewal date in UTC, so depending on your local timezone, you may notice your tokens refresh later in the day on your billing date.
You can view your current token balance and renewal date by navigating to your profile → Settings
Scroll down to Usage history.
How Long It Can Take
Most accounts see their refreshed tokens shortly after the daily run completes. However, in some cases, the refresh can take up to 24 hours. This happens when your subscription period ends just after a daily run, meaning the next processing run won't occur until the following day.
What to Do If Your Tokens Haven't Reset
If it's your billing date but your tokens haven't refreshed yet:
1. Wait until after the daily processing time (approximately 11:00 UTC), then refresh your dashboard.
2. Go to Settings → Usage history to check whether a renewal or reset transaction has been posted.
3. If it's been more than 24 hours past your billing date (and after the daily processing time) and your balance still hasn't updated, contact support with:
- Your store/app URL
- Your billing date
- A screenshot of Settings → Usage history showing your recent token transactions
Good to Know
- Token renewal timing is based on UTC processing, not your Shopify store's timezone.
- The daily billing cycle runs once per day, so renewals won't happen instantly at midnight.
