AI Studio Tokens: Refunds and Credits

AI Studio uses tokens (credits) when you generate images and videos. This article explains how token refunds work for failed generations and how to request credits for unsatisfactory results.

Understanding Token Refund Types

There are two different scenarios when it comes to getting tokens back:

Automatic Refunds for Failed Generations

If an AI generation fails due to a technical error, the tokens charged for that run are automatically reversed back to your account. You don't need to do anything—the refund happens automatically.

Manual Credits for Unsatisfactory Results

If a generation completed successfully but the output was incorrect or unsatisfactory, tokens are not automatically refunded. There is no self-serve refund button in the product. However, the Tolstoy team can review your case and manually add tokens back to your account when appropriate.

How to Check Your Token History

1. Navigate to your profile → Settings

2. Scroll down to Usage history.

2. Review the token transactions list to see your usage and any refunds. If an automatic refund occurred, you'll see a reversal/refund transaction in this list.

How to Request a Manual Token Adjustment

If your generation completed but produced unsatisfactory results, contact the Tolstoy team with the following information:

- Chat ID which can be found in the URL at the top of the agent you’re working on

- Approximate date/time of the generation (found in Settings → Usage history)
- Which tool/action you used (e.g., image generation, video generation, animation)
- What you expected vs. what you actually received
- Number of runs you want reviewed (or the specific transactions)
- Relevant assets produced by the run (optional but helpful)

Tips

- Always check your Usage history first to confirm whether an automatic refund already occurred
- The more details you provide when requesting a manual adjustment, the faster the team can review and resolve your request
