Overview

Flat lay images are simple and fast—but they don’t always help shoppers understand how a product fits or looks on a person. The Try-On (Flat Lay) workflow in AI Studio solves this by placing your flat lay apparel directly onto a model, creating realistic on-model images without a photoshoot.

Steps to Create a Try-On from a Flat Lay Image

  1. Select the Workflow
In AI Studio, go to the Image tab → select Try-On (Flat Lay) → click Start Creating.

  2. Choose Your Product
Use the search bar to select a product from your connected store catalog.

  3. Select a Fashion Model
Pick a model from the gallery.

You can filter by gender, body type, and more.

Pro Tip: Want full brand control? Click Upload your own model to use the same face across all try-ons.

  4. Generate the Image
Click Next. The AI will fit your flat lay product onto the selected model and show progress as it generates.

  5. Review and Save
If you're happy with the result, click Approve to save the image to your Library—ready to use on PDPs, emails, or campaigns.

Tips for Better Flat Lay Try-Ons

Choose the Right Provider

  • Fashn HQ (recommended): Applies your exact product image to the model.

    • ✅ Pros: Product looks just like the original

    • ⚠️ Cons: Sometimes fit or blending isn’t perfect

  • Runway: Re-generates the look using both product and model as references.

    • ✅ Pros: Clean visual cohesion

    • ⚠️ Cons: Product may differ from original

Use High-Quality Product Images

  • Bright, front-facing images with clean backgrounds give the best results.

Match the Model Pose to the Product

  • For structured items (like dresses or jackets), upright, front-facing model poses will fit better.

  • Avoid angled or dynamic model poses unless the product supports that style
